In the blue house on the corner
There’s a lost little girl
Looking at spiderwebs under her bed
Cuts and bruises on her shoulder
Smell of whiskey getting closer
There’s a monster inside
Of the guy that she used to call Dad
Where were we then?
And where are we now?
There’s an old man by the trees
Talking to people that no one sees
He lost his house and his mind long ago
When he came back from the war
He was still keeping score
And all the kids laugh
But they’ll never know all that he’s seen
Where were we then?
And where are we now?
In the office on the 4th floor
There’s a man and a gun
Dreaming of all he will never become
All alone in his final hour
He gives thanks for his son and his daughter
And he hopes that someday
They will be okay with what he’s done
Where were we then?
And where are we now?
Where were we then?
And where are we now?
